We’ve seen it time and time again: the initial excitement of starting college gives way to a difficult adjustment period. As the reality of big changes sets in, students often grapple with feelings of homesickness, self-doubt, and a longing for the familiar.
Before they can fully embrace their new experiences, they may feel out of place, disconnected, and overwhelmed. It’s a tough transition—one that can leave some questioning whether they should continue at all.

And just when the doubts start creeping in, a care package from Hearts from Home arrives. It’s more than just a box—it’s a lifeline of encouragement filled with local goods, practical items, and heartfelt notes from people who believe in them. It’s our way of saying, “You’ve got this! We’re cheering you on every step of the way.”
We stand by our students who’ve chosen to pursue their dreams at an HBCU or another college far from home, and we’re committed to showing up for them, time and time again.

Those moments are some of the best moments in my high school career. If I hadn't gone on that trip, I don't think I would be the same person. It kind of changes you in the sense that it matures you and makes you think about your future more.

I think that it's really important for us to get these kinds of experiences. . . I didn't know if I wanted to go to an HBCU or if I just wanted to stay here and get it over with. But going on this trip, it was really eye opening to see the community and see how everybody can come together.

Congratulations! We’re some of your biggest fans. We’d love to send you a quarterly reminder of our support. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Thanks for letting us know about a student who could use a little encouragement from home! We would love to send them a care package, so we just need some info from you.
